Sonson's Pasty Company Information

Tucked into a quiet stretch of Mesa, Sonson's Pasty Company feels like one of those spots you stumble upon once and then keep coming back to. The location isn’t flashy, but that’s part of the charm-it’s all about what’s happening inside, especially when you catch that first warm, buttery aroma drifting from the kitchen.

The menu leans heavily into traditional pasties, and if you’ve never had one before, this is a pretty solid place to start. Think flaky pastry shells stuffed with hearty fillings like seasoned beef, potatoes, and vegetables, all baked until golden. On my visit, the classic beef pasty stood out immediately-the crust had that perfect balance between crisp and tender, and the filling was well-seasoned without being overly salty. It’s the kind of comfort food that feels filling without being heavy, which is harder to pull off than it sounds.

There’s a nice variety on the menu beyond the basics, too. Options range from chicken-based pasties to vegetarian-friendly versions, and there are even a few creative spins that mix in different flavors without straying too far from tradition. The sides are simple but effective-nothing overly complicated, just solid accompaniments that round out the meal. From what I could tell, regulars tend to stick to their favorites, which says a lot about consistency.

The atmosphere is casual and unpretentious, more like a neighborhood diner than a polished restaurant. It’s the kind of place where you can show up in whatever you’re wearing and feel completely at ease. Seating is straightforward, and while it might not be the spot for a long, drawn-out dinner, it works perfectly for a relaxed lunch or quick bite. The staff adds to that easygoing vibe-they’re friendly, patient, and happy to explain the menu if you’re new to pasties.

Reviews online tend to echo a similar sentiment: people come for the food and stay loyal because of the consistency. While it may not have the buzz of larger chain restaurants, that’s actually part of its appeal. It feels local in the best way, like a place that’s built its reputation one satisfied customer at a time.

If there’s any limitation, it’s that the menu doesn’t try to be everything to everyone. But honestly, that focus works in its favor. Instead of stretching thin, Sonson’s sticks to what it does well, and it shows in every bite.

An absolutely mouthwatering menu, fantastic service and delightful experience! We ordered a wide selection for delivery and could not be more pleased, we could’ve closed our eyes and been back in England! Wonderful, authentic, highly recommended!

The food 10/10 for me. Bought a couple to eat at the restaurant and several frozen ones to make at home. Both ways was delicious. Even my picky kid liked it. The staff was very friendly too. I will definitely be coming back.

No words can describe how amazing the food was! The food tasted fresh and had lots of flavor. The portions were also appropriate for a grown man! I assume the extremely polite and lovely lady that served me was the owner and she was great to talk to today. Thank y'all so much for my new favorite place to eat now!!! Ill be back soon:)

I am a born and raised Yooper, Pasties were a staple in our house. So I was excited to find this place to see what they had to offer.. First I will start off with service was excellent, the Lady that was working was wonderful. They offer their pasties, Frozen, half baked or hot and ready.. I tried the ground beef pasty, it was great, nice flakey crust and not to greasy, only complaint was it was way to salty and onion was chopped to large for the filling, other that it was delish. The brown gravy they serve with, was just that basic brown gravy. The sausage roll were very nice as well, great puff pastry and they sausage taste like a combo of a brat and breakfast sausage, little confusing for taste buds, but still nice. I will be a return customer. Great Job!

Ordered from DoorDash and got the Chicken Green Chili and it was delicious. Not too spicy and very flavorful. Will return/reorder to try the other options.

1st time here & it was AMAZING !! Hubby had steak & I had chicken pot pie - they were DELICIOUS! We live on far west side, but will make the drive to return because it was so good & hubby wants to try their Cottage pie. We highly recommend!!

We traveled from Tucson to try out the pasties. Im originally from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We had a large population of Cornish miners who brought pasties to this area. This is the best pasties I have had outside of my home area. Great crust, and I love that they have rutabaga/swede. So authentic.
